Internet Telephone Programming Mini-Archives

Directions I've run across for programming a few kinds of phone.

Last Updated on 04 October 1999.

I have a lot of phones, and I run across used phones at garage sales all the time. When I need a phone, getting a nice 2-line speakerphone used for $0.50 sure beats paying $200 for the same model new. However, there's one downside to this: you don't get directions on how to program all those speed-dial buttons. Manufacturers will happily try and sell you a phone, but they never seem to want to tell you how to program it--unless you send them money. I've been searching the internet for months without finding any instructions for how to program a phone, so I've decided to start my own collection and publish it. These instrucitons are not cribbed from the owner's manuals or any copyrighted source--they are my work (and the work of generous contributors) free for you to use in any way you see fit.

Why not mail me with directions for you phone? I promise you, there are at least 50 people with the same phone who've lost their manual, and need your help. All contributors will be identified on the page, and sent a free Siemens telephone system if I ever win the lottery.

AT&T 1308, 1337, 1710, 1810 Analog and Digital answering machines

Probably these keystrokes apply to most or all AT&T products, but not all products will support all features. Dial your machine; when it begins to play the outgoing message, enter your remote code, found either stamped on the bottom of the unit, printed on the inside of the lift-up cover, or shown on the LED display when you press the "code" button. Then you'll hear two beeps; enter the remote function code you want. BTW, you can change the code on the models with a "code" button by holding the button down while moving the number up and down with the back and forward buttons. Remote functions are:

AT&T 1810 Combined Phone / Answering Machine

This phone has 10 memories, one for each digit.

Pac Tel FE5300 Speakerphone

This phone has 20 memory buttons on the top, but no uppper or lower shift. It features two lines and a conference function. The speakerphone is pretty quiet. Make sure you have the batteries and the power supply both installed.
